The Elkhart County Prosecuting Attorney's Office represents the State of Indiana in all felony and misdemeanor criminal prosecutions resulting from crimes committed within Elkhart County, Indiana. In addition, the Elkhart County Prosecuting Attorney's Office conducts and supervises criminal investigations, supervises grand jury proceedings, conducts juvenile adjudications and prosecutions, enforces child support obligations entered in divorce and paternity cases and provides information and assistance to victims of crime.
Upon being sworn into office on January 1, 2003, Elkhart County Prosecuting Attorney Curtis T. Hill, Jr. ushered in a new era by becoming the county's first full-time Prosecuting Attorney and by simultaneously establishing a new centralized office and reorganization of the county's top law enforcement agency. Serving the State of Indiana's 5th largest county the new office is poised to set the standard for prosecutors' offices in the State of Indiana.
Housed within 40,000 square feet of a professional office building adjacent to the Elkhart County courthouse, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney has consolidated the criminal trial division, the child support division, and the victim assistance services division and has created a new investigative division, allowing the office to be fully integrated and efficient in its delivery of prosecution services to the public.
