*** MEDIA ADVISORY *** April 6, 2005 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Death of David Garcia on 2 April 2005 MEDIA CONTACT: Curtis T. Hill, Jr., 296-1888 The Elkhart County Sheriff’s department and the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office received information in the late evening of April 2nd, 2005, of the death of David Garcia in the Waterford Mills area of Elkhart County. Officers from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene and have commenced an open investigation into the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. The original dispatch indicated a fight was in progress involving Garcia’s estranged girlfriend, as well as at least one other member of her family, arising from a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers found David Garcia to be unconscious and suffering from multiple injuries. Garcia’s injuries are consistent with blunt force injuries, and an incisional wound, and Garcia is alleged to have suffered from a medical condition. The investigation is focusing around all persons known to be involved in the altercation. The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the circumstances of this incident, and upon completion, all information and reports will be forwarded to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney for further review.
