UNIT COCAINE INVESTIGATION ROLLS INTO K-COUNTYMEDIA CONTACT:  Bill Wargo, 296-1888On Thursday, March 24th at approximately 7:45 p.m., officers assigned to the Elkhart County I.C.E. Unit, assisted by the Goshen Police Department’s Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a search warrant and raid resulting in three (3) arrests in two counties.  Elkhart County I.C.E. initiated an investigation into suspected trafficking in cocaine in the City of Goshen and in Kosciusko County. Interdiction officers and undercover personnel recently began developing intelligence information leading up to the raid. Chief Wade Branson of the Goshen Police Department provided support personnel in this investigation and on March 24, a search warrant was executed at 909 S. Indiana Ave., Goshen.At that location, the resident, Saul Hernandez, age 19, was taken into custody. He has been preliminarily charged with six (6) counts of Dealing Cocaine in excess of 30 grams, each a Class A Felony. Hernandez faces of to 300 years in prison. During the investigation the I.C.E. Unit seized 257 grams (approximately 9 ounces) of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of approximately $25,000. The officers seized an additional 124.7 grams of suspected cocaine, which was found in a hidden compartment in a vehicle parked in the garage. The estimated potential street value of this suspected cocaine is an additional $12,500, for a total of approximately $37,500. Another subject in the home, Santiago Romero, age 23, was also arrested for possession of 1.9 grams of suspected cocaine. He was booked on a Class D Felony, which carries a sentence of up to three (3) years in prison.Based on information obtained during the execution of the search warrant, the Elkhart County I.C.E. Unit contacted the Indiana State Police and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department to alert them to suspected criminal activity in Kosciusko County. I.C.E. then assisted in searching a trailer in Kosciusko County and at that location an additional 400 grams of suspected cocaine was found. This suspected cocaine has an estimated potential street value of $40,000. Arrested in Kosciusko County was Jose Villa, age 19, on the preliminary charge of Possession with Intent to Deliver in excess of 3 grams of Cocaine, a Class A Felony.  The Kosciusko County Prosecutor will review the case on Villa.
