*** MEDIA ADVISORY ***April 5, 2005 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEARREST FOR DELIVERY OF METHAMPHETAMINEMEDIA CONTACT: Bill Wargo, 296-1888 On Monday April 5th at approximately 7:30pm Daniel Garcia, age 24, currently living on Nora Street in Elkhart, was arrested for two counts of Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine. Both charges are Class A Felonies and each carries a potential prison sentence of 50 years. Garcia was taken into custody in the parking lot of a retail establishment in the City of Goshen.Daniel Garcia is the brother of David Garcia who died on Saturday the 2nd of April during an altercation that occurred south of the City of Goshen. The circumstances surrounding his death are still being investigated by the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department and the Elkhart County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. Daniel is alleged to have made threats against anyone that was involved with his brotherÂs death. The Goshen Police Department was attempting to provide protection for several persons based on those threats. Daniel has been under investigation by the Goshen Police Department Drug Unit and the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Unit of the Elkhart County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for over a year for alleged drug trafficking activities. The charges allege that Daniel Garcia delivered over an ounce of methamphetamine on two separate occasions to undercover police officers in Elkhart County. Daniel GarciaÂs bond has been set at $1,000,000.Bill Wargo, chief investigator with the Elkhart County Prosecuting Attorney's Office stated that Âour office was contacted by the Goshen Police Department and advised that there were concerns about these alleged threats. Prosecutor Curtis T. Hill Jr. authorized the arrest of Daniel Garcia pending the filing of formal charges. On Tuesday morning formal charges were filed and the bond was set. ***
