ELKHART COUNTY HOMICIDE UNIT INVESTIGATING NAPPANEE SHOOTING

On June 6, 2020 at 12:16 a.m., officers with the Nappanee Police Department were dispatched to 170 Meadows Mobile Home Park in regards to a shooting. Upon arrival, units discovered Thomas Campion, (45) of Lapaz, IN., deceased of an apparent gunshot wound. A second victim, aged 29 from Nappanee, was transported from the scene to Elkhart General with non-life threatening injuries where he was treated and released.

Officers secured the scene and contacted the Elkhart County Homicide Unit. A forensic autopsy was performed at the Homer Stryker School of Medicine located on the campus of Western Michigan and it was determined Campion died of multiple gunshot wounds. There have been no arrests made and this is considered an on-going investigation. Any further updates will be issued by The Elkhart County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
