SUSPENDED ATTORNEY ARRESTED FOR ILLEGAL PRACTICE OF LAW

Media Contact: Curtis T. Hill, Jr. (574) 296-1888

Joseph C. Lehman, a former local attorney who has been suspended from the practice of law for “professional misconduct”, has now been charged with criminal offenses for continuing to provide legal counsel in exchange for money. Prosecuting Attorney Curtis T. Hill, Jr., filed formal charges in the Elkhart Superior Court 6 today alleging two counts of Practicing Law Without a License, both Class B misdemeanors. A warrant was issued for Lehman's arrest and he was taken into custody by officers of the Goshen Police Department.

The Indiana Supreme Court suspended Lehman’s license in April, 2014, for a period not less than two years and without automatic reinstatement. Accordingly, Lehman is not authorized to provide legal counsel in the State of Indiana unless, and until, he is reinstated by the Indiana Supreme Court.

Anyone who may have additional information regarding Lehman and the unauthorized practice of law should contact the Goshen police department.
