ÂUnder Indiana law, all persons arrested for a criminal offense are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law *** MEDIA ADVISORY *** FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DOG SHOT DURING PURSUIT OF CHILD SUPPORT SUSPECT MEDIA CONTACT: Bill Wargo, 296-1888 An Investigator for the Elkhart County Prosecuting Attorney's Office attempted to serve an arrest warrant on a subject at a residence on Coolidge Ave., south of the City of Elkhart at approximately 9:30am this morning. Al Kemper, ProsecutorÂs Investigator assigned to the Child Support Division made positive identification of the suspect, and began to make the arrest, when the suspect bolted away and fled from the scene. While pursuing the suspect on foot a Rotweiller dog came from inside of the residence and began to chase Kemper. Kemper removed his weapon and shot and wounded the animal to avoid the attack. The dog was taken by the Elkhart County Humane Society Shelter. The suspect was able to avoid arrest and is currently being sought by area law enforcement.Dennis L. Gills, age 37, is described as being a Black Male, 5Â9Â, 145 pounds, black hair and brown eyes. Gills was last seen wearing a yellow Tee Shirt, blue jeans and stocking feet. Gills black sneakers were recovered at the scene. Gills is wanted on four separate Non support warrants, totaling $95,073.47 in arrears. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Gills is asked to call the Elkhart County Prosecuting Attorney's Office at 296-1888. ***
