*** MEDIA ADVISORY *** February 20, 2006                                                        FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE GOSHEN HOMICIDE MEDIA CONTACT:  Curtis Hill, 296-1888                                         Bill Wargo, 296-1888                         At approximately 2:00am on Sunday, February 20th, the Goshen Police Department received a call of a shooting in the area of the intersection of Elkhart Road and Green Road. Officers responded and found that two persons had been shot. The individuals were riding in a vehicle along with three other persons. The two victims are Rogelio Reyes, age 14 and Saul Rodriguez, age 18. Rogelio was pronounced dead at the scene and Rodriguez is listed as being in serious condition in the Intensive Care Unit.Detectives of the Goshen Police Department as well as a Deputy Prosecutor and an investigator from the Elkhart County Prosecuting Attorney's Office worked on the investigation throughout the day and into the evening.It appears that an altercation occurred at the teenage dance club, La Bamba, in Goshen located at 427 W. Pike St., in Goshen. The altercation went outside of the club and a number of persons left the parking lot. Reyes and Rodriguez along with three other persons were in one vehicle that was proceeding northbound on Elkhart Road. Preliminary investigation indicates that six other persons in two different vehicles chased the vehicle driven by Rodriguez. A number of shots were fired at the Rodriguez vehicle and both Rodriguez and Reyes were struck. The other persons in the vehicle were not injured. Based upon the preliminary investigation, Elkhart County Prosecuting Attorney Curtis T. Hill Jr authorized the arrest of several suspects:1.                            Oscar Perez, age 19, 612 W. Franklin St., Elkhart has been preliminarily charged with Murder and Criminal Gang Activity2.                            A 15 year old juvenile has been preliminarily charged with Murder and Criminal Gang Activity as well. He resides in the City of Elkhart.3.                            Henry Garcia, age 18, address unknown at this point has also been preliminarily charged with Murder and Criminal Gang Activity.4.                            Augustin Rocha, age 18, address unknown. has been preliminarily charged with Assisting a Criminal and Criminal Gang Activity.The investigation is continuing and the Prosecuting Attorney will be considering additional charges against the aforementioned individuals as well as other persons involved in this incident.  Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the lead investigator, Det.
